“Dog Bites Back” by Dyer Davis

Wednesday, May 4, Edgewater, Florida. Billy Chapin and Stephen Dees have collaborated to co-produce Dyer Davis‘ epic new album “Dog Bites Back,” which is out now on WildRoots Records.

“Lifting Up My Soul”

This May, WildRoots Records is releasing “Lifting Up My Soul”, Davis’ powerful soul-blues single, across Americana, Colege, Triple A and NPR stations.

The Production Story

At the end of 2021, Billy Chapin, Dyers’ producer/engineer, approached WildRoots Records’ award-winning producer Stephen Dees about the possibility co-producing and co-writing the record. Dees invited Dyer to perform on the WildRoots’ most recent album, “WildRoots Sessions Volume 2,” where he gave a stunning vocal performance on “The Bad Seed,” one of the album’s best tracks. Dees was completely swayed by Dyers’ talent and engaging personality. After that, “Dog Bites Back” was written and produced in collaboration over the course of eight months in the studio. The producers said they’d taken an old school approach to making the record, both of them being children of the 60s and having a mutual love of the British invasion.

Stephen Dees

Stephen is a relentless songwriter, producer and musician who has worked with numerous different acts, including Victor Wainwright and the WildRoots, Hall and Oates, Todd Rundgren, Ian Hunter, Tony Carey of Planet P, Novo Combo, Pat Travers, Foghat, Mark Aubin, Noble Thin Man Watts, and Romeo’s Bleeding to give some examples.

Billy Chapin

Billy Chapin is a guitarist, producer, and songwriter who has been nominated for Grammy, Juno, and Dove awards. He once owned a former imprint label at DreamWorks, and has written songs for Warner Chappell. Chapin has a unique history in music. The seasoned producer and songwriter, who has collaborated with Don Henley, Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain, and Stan Lynch, stated that he doesn’t limit himself to a genre because, to him, it’s all just music.

The Future

Dees and Chapin agree that working together on this project was one of their best experiences to date, and they hope to continue working together on other projects in the future. Expect more from this dynamic duo in the future.
