The catchy first single from the new alt rock band Maiden Seoul, which has been in the making for ten years, is titled “Verve.” With guitarist Ian Macaulay and singer Soo Jin Yi, the band got its start.
Macaulay would later add drummer Rashid Williams while they were both touring the world with John Legend. They quickly discovered that Yi’s sultry, soft vocal and lyrical stylings were the perfect complement to their rich musical approach once they were all connected.
Verve
At first listen, their chemistry and potential are clear. The hypnotic sound of Verve immediately draws the listener in. The song’s complexity astonishes with all the appeal of an indie pop hit. The lyrics by Verve prove to be just as provocative after further listening.
Maiden Seoul’s future is bright if Verve is any guide, which it most certainly is.
