On McKinney Music, “the best independent music magazine in the UK“, At The Mercy Of Manannan is an Irish four-piece prog rock band with a unique twist. M-Opus – At The Mercy Of Manannán

The album is about a group of sailors who embark on a risky mission and meet ancient Celtic gods along the way. Manannán was a sea god and King of the Otherworld in Irish mythology. During the lockdown, “At the Mercy of Manannán” was written and recorded by lyricist Casey as an imagined adventure; an escape inside. One song, “Na Brida,” is entirely in Gaeilge, an Irish language.

Jonathan noted that it was a strange process. Just prior to COVID, the guitarist PJ was introduced to him online, so they didn’t actually meet in person for a very long time. They wrote the majority of the album separately while isolated in lockdown, emailing each other files. Mark contracted COVID at one point, necessitating his isolation from his family. As a result, he hid in his studio and immediately recorded the album’s drum tracks!
